CONTEXT

What is 'PredX'?

PredX is a event trading market where users can Buy or sell on future event

Before 'PredX'…

Before designing, we researched existing trading platforms and engaged with the community. These platforms publish events for users to buy and sell. However….

Problem Statement

Over 70% of users want to create events not just buy/sell. Therefore, we need to introduce a 'Creator' persona

Design Goal

Enhance the creators' user experience to attract more users to create events

How ' Creators' works?

The Creator is responsible for determining the event, while the Participant is engaged in purchasing.

When the creator finished creating the event, the event will go to 'voting' phase first. During this time everyone can vote, and the event will only be officially published when it is consistently ranked at the top for a certain time. In this design, I will focus on ' Create Event' and ' Voting' phase.

RESEARCH

The problem and goal is here, so next step for us is to delve into the users to explore their specific pain points, concerns and needs to help us define the design challenges and tasks

Who, What, How ?

We conducted 4 users with 45-60 mins' interviews. As a result of these user interviews, I obtained some research findings, including user insights, personas, and user needs

Cover Topics

- Background
- Why you want to become a creator ?
- What's you concern for creating events ? Why ?
- What's you expectation for becoming a creator? Why ?

In order to gain a deep understanding of the users, we started to depict user persona and journey map. As a result of these user interviews, I obtained the user pain points and needs

We designed our platform's UX/UI with a focus on the issues faced by budding creators. His journey highlighted the importance of an easy-to-use process, getting rewards and new insights. This shaped our design approaches

Based on this research finding, I summarized 3 user pain points that we believe should be primarily considered during the design phase:

lack of confident to create an event

Product Strategy

In order to solve these 3 key pain points, I communicated with the product manager in the early design stage and listed three product strategies:

After building the storyboard and discussing it within the group, we began to conceptualize the process of using the product. By utilizing the initial interface, we completed the product's flow conceptualization and laid the foundation for the subsequent designs

In the design iterations phase, we selected 4-5 potential users (including the previous interviewees) and conducted 2-3 rounds of usability testing.

Design Challenge 1:

How Might We help users to create event easily and effortlessly?

Throughout the interviews, users frequently expressed their preference for a streamlined event creation process. In our design, our strategy will be focus on simplify the process to achieve a more intuitive workflow

Strategy A
Step-by-step event creation
  • Too many steps confuse users and make them impatient.

Strategy B

Integrated event creation page

  • Users can track the information they previously filled out

After conducting interviews with users, it was evident that they highly desired the ability to view real-time vote volume counts and ranking changes for events. This feature would enable users to gain a better understanding of the popularity of their events.

Version 1.0

In the second round of testing, users expressed a desire to include more possible about the AI generate button and profit requirements. Additionally, they requested a preview mode to allow them to see how the created event would be displayed on the webpage

Strategy B

Design Challenge 1:
Final Design

In the final design, we simplified the steps and added a preview button. Users can easily preview their events. This can enhance users' confidence in the events and improve the usability of the system.

Increased user satisfaction by 60%, reaching 95% due to streamlined process and added AI assistant

Additionally, we have significantly reduced task completion time and improved efficiency.

Design Challenge 2:

How Might We help creators find and navigate to event dashboard directly ?

During discussions with the users, they expressed a desire for a more thorough way to get access to event dashboard. We provided two strategies for users to evaluate. According to the A/B testing result, we chose strategy B to continue

Strategy A

Access through personal center

  • Entering from the personal center involves unnecessary steps

Strategy B

Access through event homepage

  • Clicking on the event card is a more straightforward access

Design Challenge 2:
Final Design

Through the redesign of the event dashboard, users can now see important data about their events directly from the homepage. Additionally, they can easily access detailed event data through the dashboard, improving user accessibility.

The final design results in the most significant increase in user satisfaction, reaching 100%

Design Challenge 3:

How to visualize the popularity of the created event more comprehensively ?

In order to show the popularity more directly and user-friendly, we focus on showing view real-time vote volume counts and ranking changes for events. This feature would enable users to gain a better understanding of the popularity of their events.

Version 1.0

In the first version, users expressed a preference for reducing the focus on event descriptions on the dashboard and instead concentrating more on displaying changes in voting and rankings. Also, they would like to see which stage the event it is.

Version 2.0

In the second version, users wanted to prioritize the display of user feedback and activity related to events at their current stage. This would enhance users' understanding of the popularity of events.

Version 3.0

In the third version, users desired quicker sharing options for events and also expressed a wish to see various data charts to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the voting trends for events

Design Challenge 3:
Final Design

In the final design, we provide users with comprehensive event data and ranking analysis, along with offering more flexible data charts for users to easy adjust the data type and better understand the popularity of their events.

The Version 2.0 design results in the most significant increase in user satisfaction. And the final design reach the 100% satisfaction

Strategy B

Usability Testing Validation

After 2-3 rounds of user testing, there was a significant increase in user satisfaction with the product, as well as a decrease in the time it took users to complete tasks with continuous optimization and iteration. The product achieved initial success!

Reflection

User-oriented is the key for design

In this design, we timely include users in different stages of the design. We tightly focused on the users' needs and suggestions to better understand their ideas and continuously make improvements. User feedback played a vital role in this design

Prioritization of the feature determines the direction

For a startup, time constraints and limited budgets require constant optimization and prioritization of design features. In this design, I had several discussions with different teams and finally decided on the design direction
